Did you know an Australian male born in 2010 has a life expectancy of 78 years, whilst an Australian female born in the same year is expected to live to 82 years old?
International Men’s Health Week is running this year from June 11 to June 17, with the overall goal being to heighten awareness of preventable health problems for males of all ages.
Data suggests that men suffer from more illnesses and accidents compared to their female counterparts, factors which influence a lower life expectancy and poorer state of health. Males also fail to visit their general practitioners as frequently as females do, impacting on their overall wellness and reducing the likelihood of detecting otherwise avoidable issues.
This perception of a lack of self-care can also lead to a domino effect within men’s health practices. Therefore, global awareness campaigns such as International Men’s Health Week is vital to gaining traction and support across every demographic.
International Men’s Health Week provides an encouraging platform to challenge, debate and discuss the key issues within men’s health and to champion the effective and timely interaction of health services with their male clients.
Interite Healthcare Interiors’ fully supports the men’s healthcare industry and promotes activities and programs encouraging men to pursue preventative care. This week we are celebrating the strength of the men in our organisation and highlighting the important roles they play, not only within a business sense but within the larger community.
